Described by The New York Times as "the gold standard in office seating", the Humanscale Freedom Office Drafting Stool redefines the concept of ergonomic seating. Designer Niels Diffrient has designed the office chair that automatically adapts to the users frame and weight, allowing them to move freely. Diffrient’s unique approach removed complexities found in other chairs, such as awkward recline levers and back tension dials for a truly ergonomic chair. As a result, he developed a recline mechanism that perfectly adjusts to the user, definitively reinventing modern task seating. Nothing to fuss with, adjust the height and just sit back and enjoy your Humanscale adjustable drafting chair.

What you need to know before ordering your Humanscale Freedom task chair:

Arms- All Freedom task chair 'Standard' arms have a height adjustment range of 6". Humanscale Freedom chairs have a natural lift and release action with no buttons or engagement switches to fail or fuss with. Unlike other office chairs, they are attached to the back so that when you recline the arms stay with you. The 'Advanced' arms carry the same functionality but the arm caps slide in and out for width adjustability. The arm caps are done in a variety of ways. The most popular version is the Duron arm that has a soft and pliable black self skinned rubberized cap. The arm caps can also be configured so that the textile that you have selected on your chair will also be used to cover the arm cap itself.

Seat Foam- All Freedom task chairs have a very high quality molded seat and back foam that is perfectly adequate for most sitters. You can also add a layer of non-compressible Technogel for increased comfort on the seat. Gel seat options are not available if you select Lotus Fabric or any of the leathers.

NEW Chrome-Free Leathers- Humanscale is committed to using materials and manufacturing processes that are safe and sustainable. Their leathers are ‘alternatively tanned’ by Wollsdorf Leather – a carbon neutral tannery using synthetic vegetable tanning free from heavy metals. Most traditional processes use chromium, a harmful chemical to the environment and to you! The result is a premium leather that exceeds industry standards in performance and durability.

Box Stitching on Leather - Humanscale will use a contrasting or matching thread as illustrated above when they build your chair using one of their premium grade leathers. Customers go both ways on this option. Some like the contrasting colors while others prefer the more subdued and monochromatic stitch pattern.

Frame Finishes- Freedom chairs can be configured with a Graphite frames. You may also select a polished base with Graphite.

Cylinder Options- This drafting Stool is configured with the stool cylinders and foot rings: 8" tall chair cylinder with a 20" footring.

Casters- The standard caster on the Humanscale Freedom chair is the carpet style twin disc. You may also select a 'Soft Caster' for hard floor surfaces as well as stationary glides (if you do not want your chair moving around) or braking casters that lock when you are in the Freedom task chair.
