"NOOK", a new-ish company out of Bristol, UK has quickly become successful creating small footprint, mobile, modular units - or "Nooks" for those who want a more intimate meeting or collaboration location that is somewhat removed but not isolated from the office like an enclosed phone booth. The "Nook", aptly called, also provides employees in the often noisy and chaotic open office environment, a more quiet respite where they can better concentrate and refuel. While it isn't a fully closed sound-proof room, it does create somewhat of a psychological barrier. It's modular flexibility also means that it can fill many needs. It has been used as a breakfast nook in the morning, a lunch meeting space or quiet concentration area throughout the day.
